Way up. At first, it was the easy commute from Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam that attracted home buyers. Commuters could use Highway 7A or Highway 1 (the TransCanada) or they could hop on the SkyTrain for direct access to downtown Vancouver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But over the last few years, something interesting started to happen. Rather than remain bedroom communities, these cities started to grow and develop their own identities. Port Moody now boasts one of the best local brewery scenes in the Lower Mainland, Port Coquitlam is known for great family communities with easy access to good schools and green spaces, while Coquitlam has developed a sports and retail presence that brings people from all over the mainland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result of this growth is that developers began to re-examine the Tri-Cities as a place to develop. It&#8217;s not like Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam were unfamiliar or unaccustomed to multi-family development. There are loads of complexes built in the 1970s and 1980s, but newer options were needed. This new crop of development and the increased density it brought to the Tri-Cities was good. It meant buyers looking for an affordable property, could actually find something suitable \u2014 and quite often a townhouse in&nbsp;Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam was the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top spot goes to a Coquitlam neighbourhood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the No. 1 spot goes to Central Coquitlam with North Shore, Port Moody and North Coquitlam neighbourhoods taking second and third place, respectively. While townhomes weren&#8217;t the cheapest in&nbsp;Central Coquitlam, residents just can&#8217;t beat what this neighbourhood offers: Exceptional access to the area&#8217;s largest retail mall; exceptional access to transit lines (both the West Coast Line and the Millennial Line); and exceptional access to Highway 7A (the minor highway that takes you into Burnaby and to the City of Vancouver) and to Highway 7, the southbound minor highway that dumps you out onto the Transnational Highway 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To see where each neighbourhood in the&nbsp;Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port
